The choice
to use D2 steel on the Companion Model was not a difficult
one, but we did discuss our options (and there were many!).
We felt D2 was a good choice due to its terrific edge holding
ability. Of course, its all in the heat treat.
We have both had very positive experiences with it in
our "user grade" knives. We are going to offer
some coating options for those who are concerned about
corrosion, esp. around salt water. This air-hardening tool
steel (with 12% chromium) is just below the threshold to
call it a "stainless" steel. |

Cocobolo
grips, each with some very distinct patterns in the wood,
Very nice stuff.
Hand tooled, hand stitched, leather sheath in very dark,
Chocolate Brown.
Lamont has been carrying a similar one for the past few
years, and I always liked it. Its a very practical design.
The sheaths came out really well. The knife fits in with
a nice snap. You could dangle upside down and it wouldn't
fall out. The label on the new bottle of stain I opened
today said Chocolate Brown on it, but its about as close
to black as you're gonna get.
