Without money to buy or build a good picture set-up and it being too overcast this entire weekend, I decided to try a sheet and a lamp. This is how the experiment came out. There is still a little glare. I think I need get another bulb for my second lamp I have (currently have lizard heat bulb in it) and use a couple sheets to fashion a ‘box’ to help spread out the light. Well, here is what I ended up with tonight.

I just read a great guide on Blade Forums and once I get my tripod back from Family I will be putting it to good use.  Thanks for watching me in my attempts to learn this new skill.

Hi All. Quick Update for everyone…
We got 28 blades back from Paul Bos Heat Treating today. They look fantastic. Lamont and I will start building some knives first thing Wednesday morning. If you are on the order list, I’ll be in touch with you in the next week or so. We should have some up for sale over in the Maker’s for sale section next week. We’ll also be in Marlboro, Ma. at the show on March 30th with a bunch.

Thanks!
Scott

First Batch of Blades off to Paul Bos!

Companion, News No Comments »

Hello all,

Great news! The first batch of blades, serial numbers 1-25, plus a few of the non-numbered blades are on their way to Bos Heat Treating. Lamont knocked out the blade grinding himself last week (I was on vacation!!) and together we prepped and mailed them last Friday. We should have them back in two weeks, which puts us right on schedule for our estimated April 1st delivery date. For those of you who paid a deposit only, we’ll be in touch with you soon as to when to send the remainder of your payment.

Thank you!

Scott

We also had to move the address from http://www.downeastknife.com/blog to

Coombs/Tanguay Collaboration Prototypes Ready!

Companion, News No Comments »

Hi guys,
We’ve had a crazy week trying to get these Downeast Companion prototypes done for the show this weekend. Well, here they are. We’re currently working with several laser engravers in our area. There is no limit to the amount of clip art they have. Micarta is great for laser engraving images on. What do you think?
